The Hasslers write exclusive feature articles for several print and online publications. Their feature column, the Responsible Pet Owner and their companion column Ask Aunt Martha…, are published in print, in Pug Talk Magazine. Both Periodical columns outreach to the public, are informative for all issues relating to responsible pet ownership, and serve as an open interactive discussion forum for readers.
Donald and Sara Hassler and Marley and Belle also write, produce and host their own talk radio show, the Responsible Pet Owner, which airs live every Monday night after the 5PM news on Good Company, 1400 WILI AM, in Connecticut. Every Monday night the Responsible Pet Owner talk radio fetches you the best of local and national pet news, interviews entertaining and informative guests, offers pet care tips, and shares adoption rescue stories that bring you inspiration and hope.

The Responsible Pet Owner is brought to you with the thoughtful and caring graces of the North Windham Animal Hospital on the Boston Post Road, and Mackey’s Pet & Garden Center.
In 2004, husband and wife team, Donald and Sara Hassler celebrated their passion for both animals and children’s books and founded PugTale Publishing — A company dedicated to helping novice and experienced pet owners learn about responsible pet care and the commitment needed to love a pet for a lifetime. The Hasslers published their first storybook in October 2007.
Warmly received by their industry peers, their debut title, Loving Marley, has earned twelve literary honors including an iParenting Media Award, the prestigious Mom’s Choice Award, and the Dove “Family Approved” seal, Creative Child Magazine award Book of the Year Award and has been nominated for the Children’s Crown Awards.The Hasslers support the spirit of the Independent Press and also enjoy serving the publishing industry as book reviewers for Midwest Book Review.
Nominated in 2008, the Hasslers proudly serve the publishing industry as judges for the Mom’s Choice Awards®.
Donald and Sara believe that writing about the love we have for animals plays an important role in the humane treatment of pets. They encourage fellow writers and have served as judges for the Dog Writers Association of America Annual Writing Competition.
The authors reside in Connecticut with Marley and Belle, the real-life inspiration for the PugTale Adventures storybooks.
